The application of lignocellulolytic\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/biochemistry-genetics-and-molecular-biology\/enzyme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enzymes<\/a>\u00a0in paper, textile and\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/biochemistry-genetics-and-molecular-biology\/bioenergy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bioenergy<\/a>\u00a0industries is encouraged in order to decrease chemicals and energy consumptions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"888\">In the following work,\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/agricultural-and-biological-sciences\/deinking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deinking<\/a>\u00a0sludge was assessed as a substrate for production of lignocellulases. Based on the results of growth and activity screenings,\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/agricultural-and-biological-sciences\/pleurotus-ostreatus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pleurotus ostreatus<\/a>\u00a0PLAB was chosen as the most promising candidate among 30 tested strains and its\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/immunology-and-microbiology\/secretome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secretome<\/a>\u00a0was further studied by quantitative\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/biochemistry-genetics-and-molecular-biology\/enzyme-assay\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">enzyme assays<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/agricultural-and-biological-sciences\/mass-spectrometry\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mass spectrometry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"markdown prose dark:prose-invert wrap-break-word w-full light markdown-new-styling\">\n<p data-start=\"489\" data-end=\"888\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-11872\" src=\"https:\/\/goba.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Graficni-povzetek-300x214.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"472\" height=\"337\" srcset=\"https:\/\/goba.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Graficni-povzetek-300x214.jpg 300w, https:\/\/goba.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Graficni-povzetek-287x205.jpg 287w, https:\/\/goba.eu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/Graficni-povzetek.jpg 560w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 472px) 100vw, 472px\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"1463\">While\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/agricultural-and-biological-sciences\/cellulase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">endoglucanase<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/agricultural-and-biological-sciences\/xylanase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">xylanase<\/a>\u00a0activities detected in\u00a0<em>P.\u00a0ostreatus<\/em>\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/biochemistry-genetics-and-molecular-biology\/secretome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secretome<\/a>\u00a0produced on\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/agricultural-and-biological-sciences\/deinking\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">deinking<\/a>\u00a0sludge were similar to activities of cultures grown on other lignocellulosic substrates, average\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/pharmacology-toxicology-and-pharmaceutical-science\/laccase\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">laccase<\/a>\u00a0activity was significantly higher (46\u202f000 U\/kg\u00a0<sub>DIS<\/sub>). Mass spectrometry identification of the most prominent proteins in the\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/immunology-and-microbiology\/secretome\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">secretome<\/a>\u00a0of the target strain confirmed that significant amounts of different lignin-modifying oxidases were produced on this substrate despite its low lignin content, indicating the presence of other inducible compounds.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"890\" data-end=\"1463\">The findings of this study suggest deinking sludge may represent a good substrate for fungal production of the aforementioned enzymes with broad biotechnological applications, including bioremediation, paper and\u00a0<a class=\"topic-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/agricultural-and-biological-sciences\/bioenergy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">bioenergy<\/a>\u00a0industries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Disposal of waste sludges\u00a0produced in large amounts in the\u00a0pulp and paper industry\u00a0imposes significant environmental and economical problems.
